1. What is the geekiest part of your music collection? Sailing songs of the 18th c. British Navy. I think that wins.
2. What do you eat when you raid the fridge late at night? Recently, dates and figs.
3. What is your secret guaranteed weeping movie? Hmm, Empire of the Sun used to do it sometimes. random, no?
4. If you could have plastic surgery, what would you do? I'd be taller.
5. Do you have a completely irrational fear? I used to have serious issues with alien invasions. Not so much any more.
6. What is the little physical habit that gives away your insecure moments? I guess I mess with my beard all the time, hands in pockets, that sort of thing.
7. Are you a pyromaniac? Who isn't?
8. Do you have too many love interests? Yes, I kind of have that problem. Except I never follow up on any of them. Oh well.
9. Do you know anyone famous? Hmm, not really.
10. Describe your bed.: I have the single, David and AJ have the bunks. It's almost never made. I have an excellent blanket that my parents got me for college, it's very comfortable.
11. Are you spontaneous or planned? Planned, sadly. I think life would be better if I was more spontaneous. Read the last few stanzas of the Wasteland. I sat upon the shore.
12. Who would play you in a movie? Hehe, no movie actors really look like me at all. But hell, to play me now, somebody like brad pitt, 20 years in the future maybe russel crowe.
13. Do you know how to play poker? Of course I know how to play but I'm not really any good at it. I'm lucky in general though, so I do ok in casual games.
14. What do you carry with you at all times? Keys and SUID.
15. What do you miss most about being a kid? Drawing pictures with lots of stick figures running around. That's just what comes to mind first. Not worrying about the future at all, I guess.
16. Are you happy with your given name? I like all my names, but I like Jacob (middle name) better than Daniel (first name).
17. How much money would it take to get you to give up the internet for 1 year? $30,000.
18. What color is your bedroom? Dull off-white. But at least I have a little bulletin board w/ lots of pictures up, so it's not completely dead. More like in a coma.
19. What was the last song you were listening to? Um, man I didn't listen to much music today. I guess "City of New Orleans" as performed by the Seldom Scene.
20. Have you ever been in a play? Yes.
21. Have you ever been in love? What a question! I've certainly thought so. Yeah, I would have to say I have been in love.
22. Do you talk a lot? In high school, I learned to talk a lot. Usually, what I said was right, and people listened and were impressed. Now I'm surrounded by people with much better things to say than me, so I am learning to speak less. Sometimes learning the hard way (i.e. making an ass out of myself).
23. Do you like yourself and believe in yourself? Yes, I definitely do. I'm gonna make it, gonna do something, gonna stop colloquializing the phrase "going to".
24. Do transient, homeless, or starving people sometimes annoy you? No, a lot of them are actually pretty cool. Our society should be more accepting of that lifestyle.
25. Do you consider yourself to be a nice person? Not as nice as I could be. But I'm usually not a total jackass. But sometimes I do something and I'm like, shit, I'm acting like a total jackass.
26. Do you spend more time with your girlfriend/boyfriend or your friends? Well I don't have a girlfriend so it's not really an issue. I've had two relationships in my life, and they were very different. During the first, I probably spent more time with friends. During the second, I probably spent more time with my girlfriend.
27. What is your ideal marriage location? Someplace outside. A hilltop or something.
28. Which musical instrument do you wish you could play? Everyone secretly wants to be a drummer.
29. Favorite fabric? Fleece is really nice.
30. Something you love and hate? Love: playing in a wind ensemble. Hate: whatever it is in people who are ridiculously rich that makes them want to get even more ridiculously rich by cheating poor people.
31. What kind of bedding do you use? I sleep on a sheet, under a nice blanket (see above). Pillow strictly optional.
32. What's the one language you want to learn? Yiddish, Russian, Arabic, Swahili. Oh, one. Russian.
33. How do you eat an apple? This is a stupid question.
34. What do you order at a bar? Water. The more I see of drunk people, the less I want to drink.
35. Have you ever pierced your body parts? No, although an ear piercing might be kind of cool.
36. Do you have tattoos? No, and I don't really want any. The whole permanancy thing turns me off.
37. Do you drive a stick? No.
38. Favorite trait of the opposite sex? Like, what makes someone attractive? Eyes.
39. What's one trait you hate in a person? People who are assholes on purpose and think that it makes them really cool.
40. What kind of watch do you wear? TIMEX IRONMAN IS THE BEST WATCH EVAR.
41. Most frivolous purchase? Books. I could get them from the library, but I really like to own books..
42. Do you consider yourself materialistic? For some things, definitely, see 41 above. But a lot of stuff I can do without.
43. What are you best at cooking? I make myself quesadillas. If I feel adventurous, I through in some onions or diced bell peppers.
44. Favorite writing instrument? Pencil for math, Pen for anything else.
45. Do you prefer to stand out or blend in? I like to stand out in a good way, but if I feel I'm embarrassing myself (as is often the case) I wish I could blend in more.
46. Would you ever go out dressed like the opposite sex? If I had a dress, I would wear it to band all the time.
47. What's one car you will never buy? Unless I join the guerrillas and really need off-road capability, I will never buy a hummer. And neither should you.
48. What kind of books do you like to read? I like most books, especially sci-fi and revolutionary politics.
49. If you won the lottery, what would you do? Build a mansion, put a bunch in banks, and build a new shak.
50. Burial or cremation? I want to be cryogenically frozen until technology exists to revive me.
51. How many online journals do you read regularly? Well let's see, I read Matt's, Caity's, Kenneth's (or at least did when he was on Xanga), Geoff's, Javid's, Berta's, Micah's, and sometimes Leeching's. And now I'm going to start reading Alex's/Brett's joint xanga. So that's 9.
52. What's one thing you're a loser at? Love comes to mind obviously, but on careful consideration I don't think I've done that badly. If I could have picked any two girls in my high school to date during my four years there, they probably would have been the two that I did date, so maybe I'm a winner at love after all. I am kind of a loser at friendship, I don't really form many close friendships. I'm just more of a loner type, I guess.
53. If you don't like a person, how do you show it? I avoid them, I might talk shit about them.
54. Do you cry in front of your friends? I used to all the time, I was what they called a "sensitive child." Haven't in a while though.
55. What kind of first impression do you think you give to people? "wow, that guy's a freshman? But he has so much facial hair!"
56. What's one thing you like to do alone? I like to go for walks by myself sometimes. And I like to sing along to music really loudly, but that really only works when I'm driving by myself, which doesn't happen much at school cause I don't ahve a car.
57. Are you a giver or a taker? Usually I am a taker. I feel bad about that sometimes.
58. When's the last time you cried? The other day, I was walking back from wind ensemble, and was just having a shitty day that culminated in a shitty rehearsal, and I was really missing old friends, and the high school life that I can't ever get back. I remembered playing the last wind ensemble concert, and how I had cried all the way through the last piece, and started tearing up just thinking about it.
59. Favorite communication method? Hmm. Speaking in person is my favorite. It's so much easier to keep conversation going in person then on AIM or phone. I always feel a temptation to get away, to end coversation before pauses arise in AIM chats.
60. How many drinks before you're tipsy? I don't drink. I drink water, and in the morning I drink orange juice, and occasionally I have a lemonade or a hot chocolate or a thai iced tea. I don't get tipsy.
61. Do you think you're cute? No. Sometimes I think, hey maybe I'm cute, and then I realize that I am not.
62. Do you have problems changing clothes in front of friends? Not too much, I'm not sure quite when I got used to it, but at some point I did. I used to have huge problems, when I had terrible acne on my back I was embarrassed even to change shirts in public. Now it's just like, hey, this is me, I may not be pretty but y'all will just have to deal with that..
